#106 Executive Interview: Formlabs Healthcare’s new president explains why 3D printing is only scratching the surface in the medical industry

In our latest interview with senior executives, we speak to the new president of healthcare from Formlabs Guillaume Baillard.

Bailliard has worked in the healthcare industry for 25 years, holding various leadership positions in healthcare start-ups and working at industry leaders like GE Healthcare.

In his new role as President of Healthcare at FormlabsBailliard will be responsible for creating a global growth strategy that encompasses product development and go-to-market planning for the medical and dental sectors.

On the Additive Insight podcast, he shared his thoughts on the opportunities of 3D printing in the medical field, as well as what he will bring to his role at Formlabs.

When examining reimbursement codes in private healthcare systems and the impact this could have on the adoption of 3D printing in these environments, Bailliard says: “It’s kind of like a necessary evil, but it’s a super important part of the equation. I’d like to believe that if you’re doing something that’s clinically valuable, it’s not necessary. And obviously we’re going to keep pushing that envelope and supporting that process, but we don’t intend to, we don’t believe it’s a must.”
