The 3D Printing Industry Awards return to London on May 17, 2018. This gala event recognizes leaders and innovators in the additive manufacturing ecosystem, materials, academic advancements and hardware.
This year our 3D Printing Industry Awards Trophy Design Challenge is hosted by GrâceFactory and advanced digital manufacturing business Protolabs.
The 2017 3D Printing Industry Awards attendees included Desktop Metal, Siemens. HP, Markforged, Dassault Systèmes, DWS, Autodesk, Polymaker and Dr Adrian Bowyer.
To see your work associated with such big names in the industry, “designers are challenged to create a trophy that not only celebrates the capabilities of 3D printing, but also shows the advanced digital manufacturing capabilities of Protolabs.” , explains Rob Lindsay, Business Development Manager at chauffageFactory.
To be successful, each entry must:
- Include truss structure
- Have internal channels
- Incorporate multiple features 0.15-0.20mm (preferably in the same orientation)
- Adapts to the min / max size of a cube from 75 mm to 125 mm
- Be optimized for SLA 3D printing
Prizes will also be awarded for participation and second place.
Last year’s trophy design competition was won by Morgan morey which used as a starting point a sculpture praised by the Roman art writer Pliny the Elder from the 2nd century BC. The basis of this design used the sculpture of the Laocoon Group, and introduced low-poly elements to make the figure look like it’s done.
In addition to your creation made by Protolabs and touted as the official 3D printing industry award, first place will win a Wanhao Duplicator 9 3D printer. A second Wanhao Duplicator 9 will also be available as a finalist prize.
To participate, all designers will receive an additional 10% discount for any Duplicator 9 3D printer purchased prior to the awards ceremony on May 17, 2018. Your design will also be promoted in selected award-related items through the 3D printing industry.
Note – last year #Hashtag DPIAwards on Twitter has been viewed over 3 million times.
