Rincon Resources (RCR) has restarted drilling on its South Telfer copper-gold project in Western Australia’s Paterson province.
Up to 5,000 meters of reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling will be undertaken on the Hasties prospect.
It will complement the EIS hole that was originally drilled to test the Hasties Deeps target area which sits 300 meters below surface.
Phase two drilling began in December with seven RC holes, for 1,476 meters, drilled so far.
Approximately 3,000 meters remain to be drilled, consisting of eight RC holes and two diamond holes.
Diamond drilling is expected to take two to three weeks with results expected within six to eight weeks. RC drilling will begin once diamond drilling is complete.
Following phase 2 of the drilling program, Rincon will perform detailed structural mapping on Hasties and advanced 3D modeling of the mapped geology of Hasties.
Up to 10,000 meters of aircore drilling will also be completed to test general purpose time-domain electromagnetic (VTEM) targets along the Hasties-Grade and Dolphy-Westin trends.
Finally, an orientation ultrafine soil sampling survey will be conducted over the Westin prospect area and, based on the results of phase two of the program, planning and preparation for diamond follow-up and RC drilling will be completed at the Hasties and Frenchman prospects.
“We are pleased to resume drilling at Hasties after several delays due to cyclonic weather preventing access to the site,” said managing director Gary Harvey.
“We welcome the arrival of the diamond rig to complete the EIS hole to test the ‘Hasties Deeps’ target. Although still early in the game, this is nevertheless an important phase of drilling at Hasties where we hope to obtain valuable information regarding the potential scale of the mineralized system.
Rincon ended the day 3.13% in the green with shares trading at 16.5 cents.
