The Inventory launches new version of 3D design app Morphi and makes big plans for education – 3DPrint.com

In 2014, iPad users’ dreams came true with the introduction of Morphi, a simple and user-friendly 3D design and printing application designed for touch screens. Less than a year later came Morphi 2.0, and now the creators of The Inventory are back with what they call the best version of Morphi. The app already had a lot of appeal, with its simple and easy tools, online and offline capabilities, and versatility. Users can design freehand or using included shapes and images, and with the new version they will have even more options.

Created in partnership with Geometris, Morphi has become widely used across the world, with a presence in over 96 countries on six continents. It is a popular tool for product design, education, virtual and augmented reality, and animation, to name a few of its applications. Although it is still not available for Android, the company says it is working on an Android version, as well as versions for iPhone and Windows. In the meantime, they released a new version for iPad and Mac, with several new features as well as updates to the existing ones.

New features include a Type Tool, which lets users create 3D text in over 75 fonts, a Pan Tool, and an advanced Color Tool with an expanded spectrum of colors, shades, and tints. A transform button allows users to control rotation and enter object dimensions and positions with the keyboard. Several existing features have also been improved. Horizontal and vertical movements of objects have been made easier and the “Select All”, “Save” and “Help” functions have been made clearer. Users can now move objects to the grid by tapping instead of dragging.

Additional tools cost $4.99 each or $9.99 each; many of the tools come with the option of a free trial. Morphi v1.5 for Mac and Morphi Edu v1.5 for iPad are identical to v2.5 for iPad, but cost $9.99 each. Both are eligible for bulk purchase, however – purchases of 20 or more are 50% off. A 10-day free trial version is also available for Mac and can be viewed here.

The company will expand its involvement in education at the end of September with the launch of its Morphi Educator Program, which The Inventory says will be “composed of superstar educators who actively use Morphi with their students.” . They also plan to partner with teachers and schools around the world to expand the K-12 STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) and MakerEd curriculum.

Finally, The Inventory will offer a series of professional development training programs for educators who want to learn more about 3D design, 3D printing, STEAM and maker training, and more.
